Alex

Alex was Bryony’s husband and Co-founder of Dramabananas.  Sadly, Alex passed away after a very rapid cancer in October 2015.  It is for this reason that we had a long break between September 2015-January 2016, while Bryony cared for Alex and was grieving immediately after his passing.  We are now getting back on our feet, with our Monday evening Infant and Junior groups.  There will be no summer school this summer, but we aim to be adding a new group for children aged 11+ in September (please do get in touch if you would like to be added to the waiting list).  Bryony is focussing on growing and expanding Dramabananas slowly and organically, in line with her own journey moving forward.

With a degree in Management with Entrepreneurship from the University of Southampton, and digital marketing qualifications, Alex was a marketing professional with specialist skills in filming, video editing and digital marketing.  He assisted Bryony with the marketing of Dramabananas but also came in to sessions from time to time to do photo-calls with the children and to film for adverts or to film shows.  He also kindly lent a helping hand at shows.  As well as being a freelance marketing professional, Alex worked for Blue Sky Fostering and so had experience in working with children and young people, including those who may be more disadvantaged, and had specialist training in working with children with attachment disorders and other mental health problems.

Alex was a patient and caring sort and the encouragement he gave to the children and young people he worked with invariably helped them to flourish.  Although Alex had no intention of stepping under a spotlight himself, he was extremely supportive of all Dramabananas endeavours and was popular with students and parents alike.  He is, and will be, greatly missed.

Please see 'The Alex Award' under the 'Awards' tab for more about how we're making sure that Alex's legacy isn't forgotten, and how we are taking his passion and vision for Dramabananas with us, into the future.
